Our second-year students are on their way to the country’s top universities after excelling in their A Level exams. Many of our students are now looking forward to starting Higher Education courses at elite universities throughout the country in 2026.  This year’s destinations include Manchester, Leeds, Nottingham, Sheffield and York, with one student achieving the grades needed to take up a place at Cambridge.

In 2026 we have a record number of students applying and receiving conditional offers at Oxford, Cambridge and some of the UK’s most prestigious universities. The Class of 2026 have demonstrated exceptional dedication and commitment to their A Level studies, once again demonstrating Barnsley College students’ ability to secure places at top University destinations.

Each academic year students have the opportunity to visit universities to tour the campuses, have question and answer sessions with current students, gain an insight into what it is like to study and live at university and how to make themselves competitive when applying on UCAS.

Many universities deliver presentations and interactive workshops at our Sixth Form campus, these play a crucial role in informing students about key decisions, and provide them with the skills and confidence they need to succeed at their chosen university.
